Last September I was very lucky to be  invited to the Dermalogica Headquarters in Los Angeles where I also got to attend the Dermalogica Fast Forward Symposium for 2012.

My trip included 4 nights stay at the famous Loews Hotel on Santa Monica Beach.  The hotel was situated right beside the famous Santa Monica Pier & Muscle Beach!

On day one I attended the Fast Forward Symposium.  Here I attended conference talks from a lot of inspiring people who have worked for Dermalogica for many years. These people included Annette King (Director of global Education), Dan Ginsberg (CEO previously worked with Red Bull) & Dr. Dianna Howard (V.P. of technical Development & global education).

The most inspiring talk of the day & most exciting was from  Jane Wurwand herself!  Jane is the founder of Dermalogica.

Jane (originally from Edinburgh!) opted out of college to attend beauty school.  Jane then emigrated to the U.S. and started the International Dermal Institute with her husband Raymond in 1983. Her goal was to train professional skin therapists and focus on skin health not beauty. Three years later, the couple started skincare company Dermalogica based in Carson, California.

Today, their products are sold in more than 28,000 salons and spas in 86 countries.

Jane's talk was the most exciting for me & I felt she really related to myself as a business owner & therapist within todays industry. 

On day two I was taken to Dermalogica's Headquarters.  Whilst there I was given a tour of their offices, demonstrations on new products & treatments & I even got to see where all the products are packaged.

That evening we were treated to a Cocktail Party on the rooftop of Andaz Hotel in Hollywood.  Here we enjoyed lots of cocktails & canapés. The view from the top of the hotel was amazing where we looked out over all the famous celebrity houses! 

On day three we were given a tourists view of Hollywood from an open top bus.  During the tour we were taken to where the Oscars are filmed, seen some celebrity homes & taken to Venice Beach.  We even caught a glimpse of American Idol being filmed! To end the day we were then taken to the famous shopping village The Grove.  That was when I did some serious shopping!

Many of you that visit the salon will know how inspired I have been by my visit to LA & on meeting Jane Wurwand.  I truly feel that my time there has helped to shape my business into what it is today.  Without continued support from all our clients & from Dermalogica as our leading brand within the salon, I would never have been fortunate enough to go on this trip.

After carrying out a recent survey, one major request was to have a Physiotherapist on-board with us.  A lot of our clients suffer from persistent back ache, sciatica, sports injuries & other aches & pains that can only be treated by a physio.

Richard at Enrich Physio uses a combination of hands on, manual therapy techniques in conjunction with progressive exercise therapy. Richard's focal treatment modalities include joint mobilisation and manipulation, specific soft tissue and neural mobilisation and progressive exercise therapy. In addition, Advance Physiotherapy Services in some instances use acupuncture which can be used as an adjunct to treatment or as a course of treatment on its own, usually for pain relief.

Richard will be in our salon on Wednesday's & we are looking forward to working with him.
